Several events in honor of “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) are planned throughout the Yakima Valley.
In Sunnyside on Saturday, Nov. 2, there will be an “All Souls Day” Parade.
It will be a walking parade that will traverse down South Sixth Street from Warehouse Avenue to St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish.
Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. on Warehouse Avenue in Sunnyside. The parade line-up begins at 5:15 p.m. on Warehouse Avenue and the parade will start at 5:30 p.m.
Community members are urged to dress up in honor of their loves ones who have left this earth. Signs and puppets are also encouraged.
Also, the Yakima-Morelia City Association will host its ninth annual Dia de los Muertos community altar exhibit in downtown Yakima at 106 S. Third St. The exhibit will be on display from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, through Saturday, Nov. 2.
In Tieton, the Mighty Tieton Arts and Humanities is hosting a special Day of the Dead celebration on Sunday, Oct. 27. The afternoon event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Arts and crafts activities, as well as food and dance performances will keep visitors busy.
