KAHLOTUS – The Lady Pirates came from behind to defeat Kahlotus in five sets. The non-league match was held this past Saturday.
The two teams were almost evenly matched in the first two sets with Kahlotus taking the first set 25-23 and Bickleton taking the second set by an identical score.
Tied at a set apiece, Kahlotus came back and won 25-16 in the third set, pushing the Lady Pirates up against the wall.
In the fourth set, the Bickleton squad pulled out a 25-22 win to force the final tiebreaker game.
The Lady Pirates finally hit their stride in the last set behind the serving of Shaylee Tharp, and won the set 15-2 to take the match.
“Close game at first,” said Bickleton Coach Katie Leuthauser. “We had trouble waking up the first few sets but once the pressure was on the girls really preformed.”
Bickleton’s Shaylee Tharp was 26-for-28 from the service line with nine aces. She had the final 13 serves in the tie-breaker game. Tharp also tallied four assists and spiked the ball for six kills.
Lady Pirate Lindsay Brown went 17-for-19 serving with five aces. She was also strong at the net with 11 kills in the match.
Bickleton’s Daniela Smith put in a 15-for-16 performance from the service line, also with five aces. She also contributed six assists in the win.
Bickleton (3-2, 5-2) takes to the road again with a league match at Trout Lake tomorrow, Oct. 15.
