Fallen tree interrupts phone, cable TV services

Sunnyside firemen responded to a report of a downed tree at the intersection of Harrison and South 13th Street just after 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning (Monday).

After a brief investigation, the firemen turned the situation over to the city public works crews for removal of the tree.

CenturyLink and cable television customers in the area reportedly experienced a short break in their service. The street was cleared by 5 p.m.

Firemen also responded to a fire alarm in the 1700 block of Wendell-Phillips Road late Monday afternoon. The call proved to be a false alarm. Earlier in the day firemen also responded to an automatic alarm in the 800 block of South 16th Street, which also proved to be a false alarm.

During the past 24 hours, Sunnyside Fire Department personnel have answered four calls for aid, provided one transport and made two facility transfers.
