Grandview loses to Ellensburg by 4-1 score

GRANDVIEW – The Grandview soccer team last night lost its final home match of the season to Ellensburg, 4-1.

Lady ‘Hound Jamila Shafer, a senior, scored the lone goal for Grandview during the match. She scored on an assist from Ana Marquez with just 10 minutes left in regulation play.

Ellensburg’s Trew Tucker notched a hat trick. Rachel Jeffries delivered the pass to Tucker at the 12, 25 and 52-minute marks. Each of those deliveries was good for a goal.

Jeffries scored the final goal for the Bulldogs off an assist from Ellory Ferris in the 63rd minute of the match.

“Ellensburg played spoiler,” said Grandview Coach Anne Holden.

The Bulldogs had eight shots on goal, and Grandview’s Madison Trevino recorded four saves.

Ellensburg keeper Taelor Griffen also recorded four saves.

Grandview honored 11 seniors at last night’s match.

“Each senior has in her own way left their mark on us and our program,” said Holden.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Grandview (3-6, 5-9) will travel to West Valley.
