Halloween fun in Sunnyside

Central Park in Sunnyside was the place to be from 5 to 8 p.m. last night. Hundreds of children and their families lined up to participate in the trunk-or-treat event, in which they received goodies from volunteers who filled the trunks of their cars with candy and treats. At bottom left, a jumping spider startles David Carrillo at Wednesday’s trunk-or-treat event, hosted by the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce and local police department. At bottom right, Sunnyside Police Explorer Lupita Rodriguez hands out candy from the back of the Sunnyside SWAT vehicle to local children.

It's a nice treat for them, but really there is something wrong with the number of overweight people in our community. It's disheartening to see it in the staff that work at the medical facilities. I have frequented the hospital, clinics, and retirement center in town over the past several months, and it is truly an issue with all genders, races, and ages in our community.
