MABTON A slow start against Naches Valley doomed the Lady Vikings in their home match last night.
The Rangers won in three sets, 25-7, 25-8, 25-17.
“We almost had them the third game,” said Mabton Coach Jennifer Spicer, who took over the team this summer.
The Lady Vikings did have some bright spots. Mabton’s Naida Gusby went 10-for-10 serving and had nine assists. Lady Viking Cassidy McCallum also put in a strong performance from the service line, going 7-for-8 with three digs.
Mabton’s Angela Martinez had nine digs and seven perfect passes. Alyssa Nash and Risa Navarro were the team’s terminators, Nash slamming home three kills and Navarro contributing another two kills.
The Lady Vikings (0-2) will be traveling to Granger for a match tomorrow, Sept. 19.
