Shoplifter and sex crime top Tuesday police log

A possible shoplifter was arrested at Walmart last night (Tuesday) after being observed ripping tags off a pair of pants he had allegedly hidden under his sweatshirt to sneak out of the store, according to Tuesday’s Sunnyside police report.

Following a report of a sex crime against a juvenile, Sunnyside police took into custody an adult male Tuesday. The incident was reported to a school counselor and allegedly occurred in the Outlook area, according to the police.

Sunnyside police are also investigating a report of suspicious looking individuals going through neighbor-hoods asking personal questions about residents’ households. One such incident was reported Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of Woods Road, but police were unable to locate any individuals matching the reporting party’s description.

Police also responded to a suspicious incident in the 800 block of South Fourth Street yesterday afternoon, involving a grey truck parked in front of a local business. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

In other activity during the past 24 hours, Sunnyside officers responded to four animal complaints, one report of fraud, three juvenile issues, one report of graffiti, two reports of runaways and made four traffic stops.

Sunnyside police also served six arrest warrants and five court orders, as well as giving four agency assists since Tuesday morning.
