GRANDVIEW – The dogs were at it again last night, Grandview’s Lady ‘Hounds taking on the visiting Othello Huskies.
This time around the Huskies defeated the Lady ‘Hounds soccer team 2-0.
Grandview will have a chance to avenge the non-league loss in league play later this season, but last night’s non-league match proved the Lady ‘Hounds will need to work on converting shots on goal to actual shots into the net.
“Although the Lady ‘Hounds created eight scoring opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on any of these half chances,” said Grandview Coach Anne Holden.
She said Othello made good on 2-of-6 shots, which provided the Huskies a victory.
In the 28th minute of the opening half it was Brenda Guiterrez of Othello who booted the ball between the crossbars on a penalty kick.
In the closing half, Morgan Logan of the Huskies got the ball past Grandview’s keeper at the 65-minute mark.
“While statistically having the better of the match, the Lady ‘Hounds put themselves behind the eight-ball numerous times with lackadaisical turnovers, missed marking assignments and missed scoring chances,” Holden said.
She said Grandview needs to play well all 80 minutes of a match to secure a victory.
“At times we play very well, very composed and tonight we created some excellent scoring chances…but we couldn’t convert any of them,” she said.
The 2A Lady Greyhounds (1-3) will host 1A Royal tomorrow (Thursday).
