Spending cap for homeless monies removed

YAKIMA – Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services in Sunnyside, as well as the YWCA, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic and Yakima Neighborhood Health Ser-vices have all been awarded Consolidated Homeless Grant Program funding.

Those agencies, until yesterday (Tuesday), had in place a 85 percent cap spending limit.

With the funding, the agencies in Yakima County have been supporting housing assistance programs to prevent homelessness and to re-house unsheltered families. Emergency shelters, rental assistance and transitional housing have been funded using the monies. Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services was awarded nearly $76,000 for this purpose, beginning in January 2012.
