Your tax dollars at work

Construction on the Sunnyside Fire Station on Eighth Street, funded by a voter-approved bond, is well underway, with signs of progress pointing to the sky. The project sits on the site of a former doctor’s office at the corner of Eighth Street and Franklin Avenue. The city purchased the land, then tore down the building to make way for a new fire hall that will include a state-of-the-art training center, as well as a meeting room open to the public.
