Air conditioner theft in Sunnyside

Sunnyside police investigated a burglary report yesterday afternoon (Thursday) in the 900 block of East Lincoln Avenue. Someone removed an air conditioning unit to gain entry. Police have a suspect in the case.

A shoplifter was also captured at Walmart yesterday afternoon. The adult female suspect was taken into custody by police.

Officers also received two reports of thefts yesterday, one involving jewelry and the other involving a video game console. Police were also called to investigate a report of money fraudulently taken from a savings account.

Sunnyside officers also received four reports of dog problems around town. A group of dogs were reportedly following children at a school bus stop and forcing traffic to stop in the 500 block of West South Hill Road. Police impounded two of the dogs, but couldn’t catch a third.

Two other reports came in to police yesterday about loose dogs and one report was about a neglected animal that officers impounded after the owner was unable to produce a license.

Since yesterday morning Sunnyside police have also responded to a 9-1-1 hang up call, a report of harassment, a report of domestic problems, five reports of malicious mischief, a report of a runaway juvenile, three reports of suspicious activity, four reports of traffic problems, three juvenile problems and an automatic alarm.

In that time officers also took six informational calls, conducted a welfare check, served two arrest warrants and two court orders, provided assistance to a citizen and provided two agency assists.

Burglary report is unfounded

Yakima County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 2300 block of Van Belle Road early this morning (Friday), but discovered that it was a false alarm. A house sitter mistakenly thought someone was attempting to enter the residence.

Yesterday deputies also responded to an accident report and conducted a welfare check.

Business slow for G’view cops

GRANDVIEW – Officers in Grandview handled two animal problem reports and two reports of suspicious activity yesterday (Thursday) during a relatively quiet day for police in the city.

Police also took two informational calls, responded to a citizen complaint, investigated an automatic alarm, provided assistance to a citizen and handled three traffic problems yesterday.

Firemen have quiet day

Sunnyside firemen were called upon to make a citizen’s assist in the 500 block of Ridgeway Loop Thursday afternoon.

In addition, the firemen responded to one aid call and made one transport and conducted one facility transfer during the previous 24 hours.
