Four teens sustain injuries in rollover

CONNELL – Four teenagers, three of them from the Sunnyside area, required medical treatment as the result of a one-vehicle rollover accident near Connell yesterday morning (Sunday).

All four teens were transported to Richland’s Kadlec Medical Center.

Washington State Patrol troopers say 19-year-old Erika Hernandez of Sunnyside was driving too fast on SR-260, about 14 miles east of Connell, at about 11:50 a.m. yesterday morning. Hernandez lost control of her 2000 Toyota Camry. WSP officials said she over-corrected, causing the car to roll onto the shoulder of the highway.

Charges against Hernandez are pending.

Hernandez and three passengers in the car all suffered injuries. The three passengers included Celia Diaz, 18, of Mabton, Adriana Ayala, 19, of Sunnyside and 19-year-old Mariela Santos of Everett.

All of the injured women, according to the Washington State Patrol, were wearing safety restraints at the time of the accident.
