PASCO – The Lady Knights were the third place finishers out of five teams at the Tri-Cities Prep Volleyball Invitational this past Saturday in Pasco.
“We played well overall today,” said Sunnyside Christian Coach Stephanie Dalrymple. “We came out very slow in our first match against Columbia Burbank. We just didn’t play our game. We came back and fought hard in our next three matches.”
Against their four opponents the Lady Knights defeated two teams and lost to the other two. Sunnyside Christian prevailed over Bickleton 25-11, 25-14, and Touchet 25-16, 25-15.
Columbia Burbank defeated the Lady Knights 25-15, 25-23 and host Tri-Cities Prep also won 25-15, 25-22.
Lady Knight Annie Brouwer was 36-for-42 from the service line with seven kills, 31 perfect passes and 10 digs on the day. Teammate Aydan Harrington had 19 assists and eight digs.
Sunnyside Christian’s Brittany Broersma was all over the court, with an 18-for-23 service performance, 17 spikes for kills, 13 perfect passes, six blocks at the net and 14 digs to keep the ball alive.
Kate Newhouse was also no slouch for the Lady Knights at the tourney, putting into play 26-for-27 serves, slamming home 23 kills, passing perfectly 13 times and digging up the ball 19 times.
Katelyn Banks had eight kills for Sunnyside Christian and McKenzie Benjert provided 40 assists while digging up the ball 11 times and giving the Lady Knights a 38-for-40 performance at the service line.
Due to a schedule change, the Lady Knights are on the road tomorrow, Sept. 24, to Riverside Christian.
