S’side cops investigating report of fraudulent bank transfer

Sunnyside Police Department officers are investigating a report of a $4,700 illegal bank transfer made some time during the past week.

Police said the victim, who reported the money missing from his account last Friday, claims it may have been taken by his brother, who had access to the victim’s debit card and pin number. Police are continuing to investigate the case.

In other weekend activities, police responded to seven reports of suspicious circumstances reported at various locations around town. However, in all situations the offending parties were nowhere in sight when the police arrived.

Police also were called to investigate reports of business and residential alarms, but, again, all premises were determined to be secure and the alarms to be false.

Weekend traffic stops occupied Sunnyside officers’ time with police issuing citations in 19 traffic stops.

Police also responded to four animal complaints, one citizen dispute, five reports of disorderly conduct, three problems with juveniles and three reports of loud music.

Police also served five arrest warrants, made two agency assists, took four informational calls, make one welfare check and provided five citizen assists during the past weekend.
