Police seeking burglary leads

Sunnyside police are investigating the report of a burglary, which was reported Monday from the 700 block of South Fifth Street. The victim reported his residence has been broken into something during the past weekend.

Police discovered the residence’s door has been pried open. The victim reported beer signs and a car seat among his missing possessions.

There are no suspects at this time, according to the police report. Anyone with information regarding the break-in is encouraged to contact the police at 836-6200

Sunnyside police were also called to the scene of a hit and run accident in the 1300 block of Jackson Avenue about 2 p.m. yesterday (Monday). The victim said a neighbor hit his vehicle and then just drove off.

Also on Monday, officers received a call regarding a stolen vehicle, which the reporting party said had been taken from the 700 block of North Avenue. The keys had been left in the vehicle, according to the report. Police detained a 26-year-old man for questioning in regards to the stolen vehicle.

In other activity during the past 24 hours, officers responded to two business alarm calls, took three animal complaints, investigated two reports of assault, two harassment complaints, one juvenile situation, as well as making one traffic stop and answering a trespassing report.

Police also provided two agency assists, served one arrest warrant and made two welfare checks.
