Sunnyside hospital earns lofty distinction as one of 23 ‘most wired’

Sunnyside Community Hospital now holds the distinction of being a “most wired” hospital.

Sunnyside Community Hospital administrators recently learned the hospital has been recognized as one of 23 hospitals in Washington state, and the only hospital in the Yakima Valley, for its excellence in information technology.

“We are proud of this recognition,” said Sunnyside Community Hospital CEO John Gallagher.

Hospitals & Health Networks sponsors the annual ‘Most Wired Survey,’ which is an industry standard benchmark study. The survey recognizes hospitals and health systems for excellence in information technology.

Sunnyside Community Hospital received a level 6 recognition, which means the hospital maintains full physician documentation using structured templates. The hospital’s template system allows for discrete data collection in at least one inpatient care service area for progress notes, consultation notes, discharge summaries or problem list and diagnosis list maintenance.

“Keeping up with the newest information technology is another step in providing the best care for our patients,” said Gallagher.
