Record breaking success

We had record breaking numbers on Saturday, March 29, for our 10th annual “Show & Shine” car show!!  It went just “as planned” . . . we had a beautiful 60-degree SUNNY day and at the end of the event (after an exciting but exhausting day) we packed everything up . . . AND then it hailed!!

Every year I meet with a new group of parents (of SHS senior students) offering them my assistance with their biggest fundraiser. They generally are not fully prepared for the “magnitude” of such an event, but this year WE were all caught by surprise, which included 233 registered entries (furthest travelling from Seattle and Oregon areas), with an estimated 1,150-1,200 in attendance! We had several vendors and a bouncy house for the kids as well!

Each year I am “thankful” for the businesses and individuals who continue to support this high school fundraiser. Even though our children have all graduated years ago, they continue to volunteer. With their help, it has been a valuable asset because of their experience they bring back each year.

“THANK you” to my husband Bill for his support (knowing when I volunteer for something that “probably” means it’s him too!) and also to our daughter, Jacqueline, who does a wonderful job promoting this event, year-after-year.

With ALL the support from the local businesses (and some out of town), including the numerous volunteers, this event has grown bigger and BIGGER!!

All proceeds benefit the graduating “Class of 2014” at Sunnyside High School. We are happy that with these funds it will enable the parents of senior students to provide a SAFE and FUN grad party (following this year’s graduation ceremonies).

“THANK YOU” again to those who have made this high school and community event a GREAT success!
