A report of an assault with a knife resulted in the apprehension of one man, but no injuries to the intended victim, according to a Sunnyside police report.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Cemetery Road early Thursday morning. Officers arrived to find the victim had been threatened with a pocket knife. The suspect was located and detained. The case is still under investigation.
Officers also investigated a report of a vehicle theft from the 400 block of Yakima Valley Highway. The car was reportedly taken sometime Wednesday night. The car was later located in Oregon, thanks to a dealership installed GPS chip, according to the report.
Police also investigated a hit and run accident in the 2300 block of Yakima Valley Highway, involving a white-colored truck which apparently backed into the victim’s van.
In other activity, police investigated a report of shoplifting in the 2600 block of East Lincoln Avenue and two reports of burglaries. In one of the burglary incidents, the victim returned home to discover her home had been broken into and numerous items were missing. According to the police, the burglars gained entrance by kicking in the residence’s door. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Bagley Drive.
The second burglary report came from the 700 block of South Fifth Street, where the victim discovered his storage unit had been broken into and a number of items were missing.
Police also investigated a civil matter, a domestic violence report, a noise complaint, a juvenile problem, and took a report of a runaway during the past 24 hours. Officers further investigated reports of six suspicious circumstances and one threat.
Additionally, police served an arrest warrant, received found property, fielded an informational call and provided one welfare check.
