Tractor driver escapes serious injury in canal mishap

A man driving a tractor in the 4600 block of Washout Road near Sunnyside suffered only minor injuries and back pains when the tractor went into a canal last night (Sunday), according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies also are investigated a burglary reported Sunday morning from the 500 block of South Lester Road near Outlook. A door was damaged and a stove was taken from an apparently uninhabited house.

Another burglary was reported to deputies Saturday night from the 700 block of Arms Road near Outlook. Two television sets and a speaker were taken in the break-in.

Deputies are also investigating a car prowl reported last Friday morning from the intersection of Braden and Tear roads near Grandview. A computer tablet was stolen from a vehicle.

Deputies also received two reports of assault over the weekend, one on Friday night from the 5000 block of Glade Road near Mabton and the other near Sunnyside, reported from Sunnyside Community Hospital.

In addition, deputies made an arrest of a person present at a structure fire in the 600 block of East Stover Road Saturday afternoon. According to the report by deputies, the person was obstructing emergency personnel by repeatedly attempting to approach the fire.

Deputies also received two reports of burglaries over the weekend that turned out to be unfounded on further investigation.

Since last Friday morning deputies also handled five traffic incidents, fielded an informational call, responded to an automatic alarm, took a report of a domestic problem and investigated a report of suspicious activity.
