Shoplifter steals donated clothes

A shoplifter escaped with an armful of clothing from the local Goodwill store last night, according to Sunnyside police. Employees of the store reported Wednesday that a female ran from the store to a white VW bug driven by a male. The vehicle was last seen headed toward Factory Road. The value of the stolen items is unknown.

Police also received a report yesterday of a purse stolen from a parked car at Mid-Valley Mall.

A resident in the 1000 block of South First Street reported finding a rifle buried in his yard. The police took custody of the firearm.

Since yesterday morning, Sunnyside police have also responded to two automatic alarms, five reports of animal problems, a domestic call, a report of drug use, two reports of harassment, five reports of juvenile problems, a report of vandalism, two reports of runaway juveniles, two reports of suspicious activity, two traffic incident and three reports of trespassing.

In that time officers also fielded four informational calls, conducted two welfare checks, located a person wanted by authorities, provided assistance to a citizen, recovered a stolen vehicle, investigated a report of a solicitor and provided assistance to Sunnyside firefighters with a car fire.
