With 30 building permits issued in March for a combined valuation of $301,868, the city of Sunnyside topped $1 million in new building valuation for the first quarter of 2014.
More than half of the value for new starts last month, came from two projects. One was construction valued at $90,000 to repair a fire-damaged home at 1213 Roosevelt Court.
In March Sunnyside building officials also approved a rare permit for a new elevator at the Best Western Grapevine Inn. The project, valued at $80,000, includes installing both an elevator shaft and an elevator in the hotel.
Another permit of note greenlighted last month was for ductwork at a commercial site at 204 S. 13th St. valued at $55,468.
The 30 permits issued in March generated a combined total of $6,251 in fees.
Year to date for the first quarter of 2014, the city of Sunnyside has issued 76 building permits with a combined valuation of $1,158,814. City coffers have garnered $17,641 in fees for the first three months of 2014.
