PREP FASTPITCH SOFTBALL
GRANGER – The Sunnyside Christian Lady Knight fastpitch softball team swept both ends of a doubleheader at Granger yesterday by scores of 12-9 and 32-19.
In Tuesday’s opener, Aydan Harrington went the distance on the mound for Sunnyside Christian, striking out eight batters.
Jordan Harrington helped pace the Lady Knights at the plate with three hits and two stolen bases.
Defensive standouts for Sunnyside Christian were shortstop Jenna Denhoed, Kristen Broersma at first base and catcher Betsy Knotts.
In the nightcap, McKenzie Benjert and Aydan Harrington shared pitching duties.
Broersma was pivotal at the plate in game two, collecting four hits and six RBI. She pounded a home run and a triple against Spartan pitching.
Jordan Harrington was a perfect 6-for-6 at the dish in game two for five RBI.
“We were hitting the ball well,” said Coach Kelly Harrington. She also noted that Andrea Werkhoven turned in the defensive play of the game with a double play from right field.
Sunnyside Christian (3-5) has its home opener this coming Saturday against Lyle-Klickitat.
