Checkers challenge

This past Tuesday Carter Hauver, a second grade student at Sunnyside’s Washington Elementary School, challenges Sunnyside School District Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Brian Hart to a game of checkers. Hauver was one of four top checkers players in his grade to compete against school district administrators in a tournament organized by Counselor Diego Alvarez. Four third grade students also participated in the tourney. Alvarez said there were more than 150 second and third grade students nominated for the competition.
