Yakima County Crime Stoppers will this coming Saturday again host an event for the public to drop off unused or expired medications, and personal or financial documents that need shredding, what it calls “shred and med.”
Accordingly, on Saturday, April 26, the Sunnyside Police Department will partner with Crime Stoppers to offer the public an opportunity to bring up to three shopping bags or two banker boxes of documents to shred, in addition to unused or expired medication. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center.
A similar “shred and med” event be held this Saturday on Tieton Drive in Yakima at Solarity Credit Union.
Finding a solution for disposing old medications is key, say officials with Sunnyside United, because improper disposal or storage can lead to accidental poisoning, drug abuse and even environmental problems.
There is no cost for Saturday’s “shred and med” event, though Yakima County Crime Stoppers will be accepting donations for their reward fund.
