Shots-fired calls prove to be unfounded

Sunnyside police had a number of calls this past weekend, including four shots-fired calls that were determined to be unfounded.

There were also two burglaries and four thefts reported to police this past weekend.

Officers detained two shoplifters at Rite Aid on Friday, a shoplifter at Walmart on Saturday and a shoplifter at Walmart yesterday (Sunday). The fourth theft was reported by a citizen in the 1600 block of Sheller Road who believes her son took her debit card.

The burglaries were each reported yesterday. A resident in the 500 block of Victory Way reported jewelry and an iPod were stolen during a burglary. A resident in the 1000 block of South 15th Street also reported jewelry stolen, as well as cash.

Sunnyside police have also since Friday responded to eight automatic alarms, a domestic violence call, two DUI stops, a loud music call, 15 suspicious activity calls, 15 traffic stops, a vandalism report and two non-injury traffic mishaps.

Sunnyside officers, too, provided assistance to other agencies seven times, 11 citizen assists and a welfare check, as well as served five arrest warrants.
