Anthony “Tony” Overman, 88, a longtime Grandview resident died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at his home in Grandview.
Tony was born May 10, 1926 in Sanborn, Iowa, the son of Edward and Annie (Wynia) Overman.
He spent his early years and received his education in Minnesota.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1945, and received his honorable discharge in Dec. 9, 1946. Following his military service he met and married Hilda Veld on Jan. 25, 1949 in Minnesota. Following their marriage, they made their home in Minnesota and California before moving to Grandview in 1974, where they owned and operated a small dairy.
Tony continued to make his home in Grandview until the time of his death.
Tony is survived by one son, Donald (Nikki) Overman of Grandview; six grandchildren, Sundra (Mike) Turner, Dawn (Mark) Meyer, Raquel Lilienthal, Lucky Overman and Brian Overman, all of Grandview and Shawn Babineau of Seattle; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mae Boatright of Georgia and Neva Tinklenberg of Carolina; and one brother, Marion Lee Overman of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Overman; one son, Douglas Boyd Overman; a great-granddaughter, Shelby Meyer; four sisters; and one brother.
A family graveside service will be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the United Reformed Church, 1750 Sheller Rd., in Sunnyside.
