Firemen kept busy with aid calls

Sunnyside firemen responded to four aid calls during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of aid calls to 32 reported since last Thursday

The firemen also conducted six facility transfers since last Thursday, two of which were made yesterday.

Also since last Thursday, firemen responded to two automatic alarms, both of which proved to be false.

In addition, the firemen were dispatched to a structural fire in the 500 block of Cemetery Road last Saturday, which proved to be a cooking mishap. There was no structural damage and firemen provided smoke removal.

Firemen also responded to a report of an ammonia leak in the 1400 block of South First Street last Thursday. Firemen were able to isolate the system leak and it was turned off by maintenance workers. No injuries were reported.
