Sunnyside High athletes can begin getting cleared for fall sports teams

Sunnyside High School students can now begin getting cleared for fall sports.

Football practices will commence on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Practices for volleyball, girls soccer, girls swimming and cross-country will not start until Monday, Aug. 25.

The high school ASB office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help students get cleared for the sports they want to play.

High school officials are stressing that all students need to be officially cleared before they can start practicing with their teams.

The clearance procedures include completing and turning in a 2014-15 eligibility card, submitting verification of having insurance – including the policy number, and filling out and returning to the school a concussion form. Also, student-athletes must have a copy of a current sports physical exam on record at the school. And, all prep athletes are required to purchase an ASB card before they will be allowed to turn out for one of the fall sports programs.

Additional information is available to high school students and their parents by calling the Sunnyside High School ASB office (836-3228).
