Child molestation suspect apprehended by Sunnyside police

Police are continuing to investigate a report of a sex crime involving a 13-year-old girl, who reported being molested by a neighbor. The incident, which allegedly occurred in the 500 block of Woods Road, was reported to police last Monday. An 80-year-old suspect has been arrested on a charge of child molestation.

Sunnyside police are also investigating a report of fraud involving identify theft.

The victim reported someone had opened a credit card account in her name and had made purchases totaling $2,305, according to the report.

Police are also investigating a report of a stolen boat motor taken from the 400 block of Northwest Crescent Avenue. The theft was discovered Wednesday morning.

In other activity, police investigated a report of graffiti in the 900 block of South 11th Street, an automatic alarm, an assault, a report of harassment, a report of a runaway juvenile, two reports of malicious mischief, two reports of suspicious activity, five traffic incidents, a noise complaint and two reports of trespassing in the past 24 hours.

In addition, officers also served three arrest warrants, conducted a citizen assist, fielded four informational calls and served a court order.
