BICKLETON – Mobilization of state firefighting resources came to an end last Saturday for the Sand Ridge Fire, eight miles east of Bickleton.
Resources were focused in that area after a lightning strike last Wednesday sparked a blaze that burned nearly 2,000 acres.
At its peak, 120 fire personnel were dispatched to the area near Bickleton to handle the fire. The blaze threatened numerous homes and outbuildings, as well as fields with planted crops.
Officials say the fire is now 100 percent contained.
