Travel policy amendment gets approved

GRANDVIEW – The city of Grandview’s travel policy was amended in response to a state auditor’s recommendation.

City Clerk Anita Palacios said staff were required to fill out a form for approval in advance when traveling.

The auditor, she said, noted staff were not filling out the form when traveling out of town short distances.

“According to the auditor’s office, out of town travel trips would include for example, a one-hour meeting in Sunnyside, a one-day training session in Yakima or overnight conferences,” Palacios said.

She requested the policy be amended to only include overnight travel.

The Grandview City Council approved the amendment by a 7-0 vote.
