Sunnyside police nab suspect in early morning break-in attempt today

Sunnyside Police are continuing to investigate an attempted burglary reported early this morning (Tuesday) in the 1500 block of South Sixth Street.

Officers arrived to find the fencing surrounding the property had been cut. Officers at the scene called on the department’s K9 unit to search the property’s perimeter for suspects.

As a result of the search, police took one person into custody on suspicion of burglary.

In other activity police investigated three other business alarms reported during the past 24 hours, all which proved to be false alarms.

Officers also investigated two reports of shoplifting, one assault report, a citizen dispute and one civil matter. Police, too, responded to three reports of juvenile problems, one report of a sex crime, three suspicious circumstances and made three traffic stops.

Additionally, Sunnyside police provided two citizen assists, took four informational calls, recovered one stolen vehicle and recorded one incident of found property.
