Suspect in theft nabbed by police in Grandview

GRANDVIEW – Police in Grandview arrested Carlos Espana, 21, yesterday (Tuesday) after officers allegedly found him in possession of a stolen laptop and electronic notebook.

The theft of the items was reported yesterday morning from the 1200 block of Ela Loop. The victims knew Espana and officers attempted to contact him at his home in the 400 block of Nicka Road. He reportedly fled out the back of the residence with the stolen items.

Officers located and arrested him a few minutes later. The stolen items were recovered and Espana has been booked into the Grandview jail on charges of theft.

Grandview police are also investigating a report of fraud made yesterday. The victim reported that a person in Florida appears to be using their Social Security number for work. The victim was contacted by the IRS when taxes were not paid.

Yesterday, officers also fielded a report of missing juveniles. The children arrived home shortly after the report was made.

Since yesterday morning Grandview police have also handled three animal problems, fielded an informational call, provided assistance to a citizen, responded to a report of disorderly conduct, handled two parking problems, responded to an automatic alarm, investigated a report of suspicious activity, served two court orders, took a report of a runaway juvenile and provided five agency assists.
