New blower, lights to save city money

The city of Sunnyside contracted with McKinstry a few months ago to conduct an energy efficiency analysis.

The results of that analysis shows the city would save money with upgrades to lighting at five of its facilities, as well as a new blower at the wastewater treatment plant.

Monday, the city council accepted a grant offer from the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services for the purpose of completing the upgrades.

The blower at the wastewater treatment plant is the latest in technology and is designed to save the city nearly $49,000 annually.

The Sunnyside City Council unanimously accepted the grant funding for more than $680,000 to complete the upgrades.
