Hospital grows with new services and providers

Over the past 18 months, Sunnyside Community Hospital has undergone a significant, financial turnaround, and with its recent additions to inpatient and outpatient services, Lower Yakima Valley residents can continue to expect more quality health care options in the future.

“It’s an exciting time for us and everyone in the valley,” said Sunnyside Community Hospital CEO John Gallagher.

“Rather than having patients travel to Yakima or the Tri-Cities, our expansion of services now gives individuals and their families the ability to receive advanced care close to home.”

Since 2012, Sunnyside Community Hospital has added 24 providers to the medical staff and enhanced or added 18 services.

These expanded services include:

  • enhanced orthopaedic services such as anterior approach hip replacements, shoulder and knee replacement and hand surgery;

  • swing bed program;

  • occupational, speech and physical therapy;

  • audiology; pulmonary function testing;

  • ventilator management;

  • cardiac echo services;

  • urgent care;

  • enhanced ICU services;

  • 24/7 “in-house” hospitalist program;

  • student health center;

  • kidney disease management;

  • inpatient acute dialysis;

  • state of the art MRI services;

  • breast MRI;

  • stereotactic breast biopsy;

  • step down beds;

  • 340b pharmacy program;

  • interventional radiology;

  • peripheral angioplasty;

  • a new sleep disorders center;

  • and neurosurgical services.

Recognized recently for its future plans for mental health treatment and its addition of providers from Grandview and Prosser, Gallagher states that all of these changes are only the beginning for Sunnyside Community Hospital.

“Our expansion continues to complete our mission of providing comprehensive quality care to the region,” Gallagher said. “We are committed to serving this region for years to come.” For more information regarding these new services, visit www.sunnysidehospital.org or call the hospital at (509) 837-1500.
