Routine contact leads to drug arrest

A routine citizen’s contact led to the arrest of a man on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia by Sunnyside police yesterday morning.

The incident occurred in the area of South Fifth Street and East Harrison Avenue. The suspect was reported to be in possession of a meth pipe and other drug-like materials.

Police also investigated a shoplifting report from the 2600 block of East Lincoln Avenue. A 16-year-old female was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting.

In other activity police investigated one animal complaint, a business alarm, four juvenile-related incidents and one report of a suspicious incident in the area of Glending and Arthur streets. Officers were unable to locate anything out of order in the area.

Officers also made one traffic stop and dealt with a parking problem involving a handicap zone during the past 24 hours.

Additionally, Sunnyside police officers provided two agency assists yesterday, made one citizen assist, took possession of a found debit card and handled two informational calls.
