BICKLETON – Nathan Powers posted a double-double for the Bickleton Pirates in their 41-26 win over the Mabton JV squad last night.
Powers scored 14 points in the victory and scraped 13 loose balls off the boards. Teammate Michael Underwood snatched 11 rebounds for Bickleton’s varsity, and Pirate Clint Strader bucketed another 13 points for his team.
“We played better tonight, but still not in our groove for shooting,” said Bickleton Coach Jerry Roberts, referring to the team’s recent losses at the Helix Tourney. “We just shot better than they did.”
Roberts said his team is still applying the lessons learned in Helix, but have started to make positive adjustments.
“We rebounded pretty well considering all the long three-point shots being taken, and I played everyone in the game,” said Roberts. “We played better but still not where we need to be.”
Tonight (Wednesday), wea-ther permitting, the Bickleton High School Pirates (4-4) will visit Granger to play the Spartan JV squad.
