TOUCHET – Cierra Jo McKeown popped in more points for the Touchet Indians than the entire Bickleton High School girls basketball team scored last Friday.
Behind McKeown’s game-high 30 points, Touchet claimed a 53-25 non-league decision in the match-up between the two class 1B schools.
“Touchet has a great basketball team. I was happy with how (our) girls played against them,” Bickleton Coach Emily Barnhart said.
“We worked hard trying to control the McKeown girl, but weren’t able to put a stop to her scoring,” Barnhart added.
The Indians forged a 22-6 first-quarter lead on visiting Bickleton, extending the advantage to 33-13 by halftime.
Besides the 30 points Touchet got from McKeown, Aceves and Chesire tallied a total of 17 points for the winners.
Bickleton was led in the scoring column by eighth grader Jayce Alexander. She dropped in 9 points. Alexander also collected eight rebounds in the game.
Junior Lindsay Brown added a 7-point, 11-rebound effort in the losing cause.
The Lady Pirates hoop team (3-6) opens Greater Columbia ‘B’ League play this coming Friday at Lyle.
