S’side police have busy weekend

Sunnyside police investigated three reports of theft during the past weekend, including an incident in which the victim left her vehicle’s motor running and unattended. The incident occurred at a local gas station located in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Avenue. Missing from the vehicle were shoes, a red bag, family photos, a black binder and electronic cord, valued at more than $500.

Police also investigated a report of a shoplifting incident in the 2600 block of East Lincoln Avenue and a report of stolen hubcaps in the 2000 block of East Yakima Valley Highway.

Sunnyside officers also investigated non-injury vehicle accidents during the past weekend. One occurred in the 1800 block of East Edison Avenue last Friday afternoon.

Police also investigated a three-car, non-injury accident at the intersection of East Yakima Valley Highway and North 16th Street late Saturday evening.

In other activity police responded to six business alarms, four residential alarms, two reports of child neglect, three domestic violence reports, two DUI reports, a noise complaint, three juvenile problems, one suspicious circumstance and made five traffic stops.

Sunnyside officers, too, provided four agency assists, served two arrest warrants, handled five informational calls, conducted two welfare checks and made one citizen assist since last Friday.
