Lady ’Hounds fall twice

Girls Prep Basketball

The Grandview Lady Greyhound basketball team found tough going last Friday and Saturday in a pair of CWAC road defeats.

On Friday, Grandview was nipped by East Valley, 39-37.

“The girls just couldn’t get a bucket to fall,” said Grandview Coach David Gibb. “There was a lid on the bucket that sat there most of the night.”

Marissa Caballero paced Grandview with 15 points, followed by Breanna Lopez with 12 points. Taylor Hall tallied 6 points for the Lady Greyhounds.

At Ephrata on Saturday, Gibb said his team persevered despite adverse situations in a 58-49 loss to the Tigers.

“This was a tough one to swallow, especially since things happened during the game that were out of our control,” he said. “I felt our girls battled and although we didn’t get a victory they showed composure under difficult circumstances.”

Lopez led Grandview with 15 points, while Hannah Pond poured in 13 points to go with a pair of rebounds for the Lady Greyhounds.

Caballero tallied 10 points and three rebounds.

Grandview got a boost from Jamila Shafer and Samantha Grove with eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Shafer added 7 points and Grove scored 2.

Grandview (6-4, 7-5) hosts Ellensburg this coming Friday.
