BICKLETON – Sunnyside Christian charged past Bickleton last night, overwhelming the Pirates by a 79-43 score.
The victory wasn’t accomplished without a fight from the host team. Nathan Powers of Bickleton was able to score 18 points against the Knights. He secured six points from beyond the 3-point arc.
Sunnyside Christian, however, was led by three players scoring in double digits. Wyatt Hoff scored 23 points, Brant Bosma added 18 points to the tally and Darren Broersma collected 15 points.
The Knights jumped out to a 16-13 first-quarter lead. In the second stanza they went on a 23-13 run to lead 39-26 at intermission.
The Pirates scrabbled and scored another 13 points in the third stanza, but Sunnyside Christian had the momentum, scoring 24 points in that period.
In the final quarter Bickleton was only able to eke out four points, while the Knights knocked down another 16.
Both teams fared well at the charity stripe. Sunnyside Christian dropped in 69 percent of its shots, and Bickleton was at 68 percent.
The Pirates were outrebounded 46-26.
Bickleton will travel to Klickitat this coming Friday and hosts Trout Lake on Saturday.
Sunnyside Christian this coming Friday and Saturday will be on the road at Trout Lake and Lyle-Wishram, respectively.
