“Cement Suitcase” is a romantic comedy about the best wine salesman in the Yakima Valley, with many scenes filmed at Airfield’s winery in Prosser and at other area locales. The film, directed and produced by Granger native J. Rick Castaneda, has won many film festival awards.
The central character in the film is wine salesman Franklin. When the movie begins, his mother has recently died and he still lives in the house in which he was born. His girlfriend is cheating on him, a strange Australian wants to be his roommate and he hates his job. All this adds up to a “slice of life” comedy, chronicling Franklin’s internal crisis as he realizes his life isn’t adding up to anything.
