Firework complaints increase in Sunnyside

As the Fourth of July draws nears Sunnyside police are receiving noise complaints in reference to fireworks.

While the areas where fireworks were searched, officers were unable to located any suspects during the past 24 hours.

Residents are reminded that it is unlawful to discharge fireworks within Sunnyside city limits.

Since Wednesday, police have investigated three traffic incidents, including a report of malfunctioning traffic lights at the East Edison Avenue and Yakima Valley Highway intersection. The incident created a temporary traffic hazard. The lights have been repaired and were working properly this morning, according to the report.

Police also investigated a report of a missing dog from the 300 block of South Eighth Street, along with two incidents of loose dogs in the vicinities of South 15th Street and South 13th Street. The dogs were described as a young bulldog and several pit bulls.

Officers also investigated two suspicious incidents, one trespassing report and a violation of a no-contact order.

In addition, police served five arrest warrants, made five public service contacts, fielded two informational calls, provided one agency assist and two citizen assists during the past 24 hours.
