Suspected shoplifter arrested in Grandview

GRANDVIEW – Last night (Tuesday) an adult male who had been banned from a store in the 600 block of East Wine Country Road in Grandview unlawfully entered the store and allegedly stole alcohol and candy. Police located the man shortly after the incident and arrested him. He is expected to be charged with burglary in Yakima County Superior Court.

Earlier in the day Grandview police also investigated a report of a theft in the 200 block of Douglas Street. The victim reported that a juvenile female who was staying at the home stole a coin. The juvenile was arrested and faces charges of theft.

Yesterday afternoon police also responded to a report of an injury accident at the intersection of Old Prosser Road and Pleasant Avenue. Police said two people were transported to local hospitals after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Since yesterday morning officers have also handled three reports of animal problems, a report of suspicious activity, a report of a hit and run accident, a report of a traffic hazard, three reports of fireworks, two reports of runaway juveniles and a report of a juvenile problem.

In that time, police also arrested a person wanted by authorities, conducted a welfare check, assisted a citizen and provided assistance to another agency.
