Digester dig

Work continues on the Port of Sunnyside’s $7.3 million anaerobic digester near Midvale Road. Though Yakima County officials issued a stop-work order recently against sub-contractor Ag Pro, efforts are still underway to excavate rock on Snipes Mountain for the project. The port’s executive director, Jay Hester, says the county’s concern is with Ag Pro’s work in crushing and mixing rock at the Snipes Mountain site. However, he says efforts are underway to work with the county on the issue. In addition, a possible alternative could be to have the rock crushing and mixing done at the digester site.
