Help sought for soil sampling

SVID manager Jim Trull told the district’s board yesterday, Tuesday, that mailers have been sent out to local farm land owners seeking their help with deep soil sampling.

Trull said a Lower Valley groundwater advisory group hopes to be able to conduct 100 deep soil samples this fall. The tests, which will keep the farm owner’s identity anonymous, are intended to determine the extent of groundwater contamination in the Lower Yakima Valley.
