A man in the 800 block of South Ninth Street called police yesterday morning (Thursday) to complain about people parking next to his garage. Turns out, he was the one who got arrested.
When officers arrived to investigate the parking problem, the man told them that people were using x-ray cameras to take pictures of him at night. The man then handed an officer a glass pipe and said he used it to smoke crystal meth. The man was arrested on charges of possessing prohibited drug paraphernalia.
Yesterday, police also investigated a report from a woman who claimed her son had taken her truck without her permission.
Another incident police responded to yesterday involved a juvenile who was taking pictures of other students at Washington Elementary School, altering the pictures and sending them to other people through social media. The student was talked to and erased the photos. According to police, all children in the photos were fully clothed, and the juvenile claimed they were all his friends.
A woman who received a phone call yesterday from Jamaica telling her she had won a prize and asking for her Social Security number contacted police to let them know about the scam.
Yesterday, Sunnyside police also handled an automatic alarm, two reports of animal problems, a dispute between citizens, a domestic call, a DUI, two reports of juvenile problems, a report of vandalism, four reports of suspicious activity, two traffic incidents and a report of trespassing.
Sunnyside Police Department officers yesterday also served two arrest warrants, provided assistance to a citizen, fielded an informational call, recovered a stolen vehicle and conducted two welfare checks.
