Sunnyside restaurant sustains damage

Sunnyside police are continuing to investigate a hit and run accident which is reported to have occurred late Tuesday night in the 900 block of Yakima Valley Highway.

Restaurant staff arrived Wednesday morning to discover damage to the exterior and interior of the building.

Officers believe Tuesday’s incident may be related to a call they took just after midnight on Tuesday involving a female driver who arrived home with injuries from what appeared to have been a vehicle collision.

The total amount of damage to the restaurant is unknown.

Also yesterday, police investigated a theft of an undetermined number of items from a convenience store in the 900 block of North First Street.

A report of two individuals seen leaving a business in the 1700 block of Morgan Road with four pairs of stolen shoes was reported to the police just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The theft was reportedly captured on video.

Also, officers detained four juveniles in the 1800 block of East Edison Avenue Wednesday night. Officers discovered four juveniles had gained access to the building through the roof at approximately 3:30 a.m. They were taken into custody after they exited the building.

Police also investigated a report of dogs barking in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue and a report of a brown pit bull loose in the area of the 700 block of Harrison Avenue. The dog, reportedly not known to be aggressive, was later returned to its owner.

In other activity, police investigated two automatic alarms, made three attempts to locate wanted individuals, handled two reports of domestic violence, one harassment report and made two traffic stops.

Officers also provided three agency assists, served one arrest warrant, provided a citizen assist and made one welfare check during the past 24 hours.
