Car crash on East Edison injures two people

An early evening accident at the intersection of State Route 241 and East Edison Road sent two individuals to the emergency room Monday.

Sunnyside police arrived on the scene at approximately 6 p.m. to discover a vehicle in the nearby canal. Sunnyside firemen/EMTs arriving on the scene found two persons with minor injuries. Both were transported to the Prosser Memorial Hospital emergency room for treatment. One of the injured vehicle occupants was arrested at the scene and was later transported from the Prosser emergency room to jail in Sunnyside.

Sunnyside police also detained a juvenile found with marijuana in his pocket yesterday evening. The suspect was also found with a knife in his pocket, according to the report. The incident was reported from the 2000 block of Yakima Valley Highway.

Police also investigated a two-car accident at the intersection of East Edison Avenue and Yakima Valley Highway Monday afternoon. No one was reported injured in the collision.

In other activity, police investigated a report of a theft from the 2600 block of East Lincoln Avenue Monday evening. The suspect reportedly left the scene before police arrived.

Police also investigated two animal complaints, one domestic violence incident, one automatic alarm, five juvenile complaints, one suspicious circumstance, a report of a runaway and made two traffic stops.

Sunnyside officers also provided five agency assists, served one arrest warrant, made a citizen assist, handled two informational calls, made a welfare check, two transports and made two public service contacts in the past 24 hours.
