$5,000 earmarked for float trailer

GRANDVIEW – The city of Grandview is contributing $5,000 to the community float trailer fundraiser being spearheaded by the Grandview Chamber of Commerce.

Mayor Norm Childress Tuesday night told the city council he approached staff, asking if the city could help the fundraising effort.

He said the trailer helps the Miss Grandview court promote the community.

The $5,000 was set aside in the 2014 budget for economic development, and staff conferred with the state auditor to see if the community float qualifies as an economic promotional tool.

“The chamber of commerce doesn’t even know about this,” said Childress.

The city council unanimously agreed to support the effort to purchase a new float trailer.

The city attorney was directed to draft an agreement between the city of Grandview and the chamber of commerce, allocating the $5,000 to be used for the purchase of a new float trailer.
